WHAT ELSE TO KNOW ABOUT BOOKING AT BASTARD CAFÉ

CAN I MAKE A BOOKING FOR TODAY?
No. Our bartenders assign the bookings as part of the opening procedure. With the volume of bookings we get, it is not possible to add more during the day.


HOW FAR IS IT FROM ONE LOCATION TO THE OTHER?
Our original cafe is in central Copenhagen, and while public transport is generally good, it will still take you almost half an hour to travel from one cafe to a different one.
In other words: Make sure that you book in the cafe that you actually want to visit. We will never admit to reading your mind, so a wrongly-located booking is your problem, not ours.

DO I NEED A BOOKING?
You don’t need a reservation, walk-ins are always welcome, and many tables are not bookable, but are available for walk-in only. However, weekends and evenings can get very busy, so booking ahead is recommended if you want to secure a table.

HAS MY BOOKING GONE THROUGH?
If you’ve received a confirmation email or have been charged, your booking is confirmed. If not, it might not have gone through. Check your spam folder, some company firewalls may block our emails entirely.

You can always write to us on [email protected] and ask if your booking has gone through.

THE BOOKING FORM IS NOT WORKING!
The booking form should work, it can just be incredible slow. It can take up to 5 minutes before available dates and/or time slots appear.
Sometimes one of these two messages can turn up:

  • “This block cannot be booked” – this means we are at capacity for at least part of the timeslot you are trying to book. This is often the case on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the closer you get to the weekend before you book.
  • “We weren’t able to get that information. Please try again.” – then please try again. Sometimes it helps using another browser.

If you get any other error messages, try to reload the web page or try in another browser.

HOW MANY CAN I BOOK FOR?
As a ground rule, you can book for a maximum of 30 people without getting in touch with us first.
If you are more than 30 send us a mail to [email protected] and we will let you know if we can accomodate you on your chosen date.

Bookings for more than 30 people require prior approval from Bastard Café. Splitting larger groups into multiple bookings without approval will result in cancellation and forfeited booking fees.

PAYMENT
All bookings must be paid in full online by credit card. Payment is not a deposit, and EAN or later payment is not possible.

CAN I PAY FOR FOOD AND BEVARAGES IN ADVANCE?
Unfortunately not. All food and beverages must be ordered and paid for in the bar.

WHAT CAN I GET FOR A DRINK VOUCHER?
You can either get a cup of tea or coffee, a bottle of beer (Carlsberg or Tuborg Classic), a bottle of soda or lemonade, a muffin, or a cookie.

GURUS
We often have volunteer game gurus helping everyone out with rules and game recommendations, but if you want to book a dedicated Game Guru exclusively for your group, this is possible. We recommend 1 Guru per 10 persons.

Dedicated Guru Prices (min. 1 hour):

  • 750 DKK per guru per hour (for non-members)
  • 450 DKK per guru per hour (40% discount for members)

A table reservation is required to book dedicated gurus.

Gurus booked with one day’s notice (or two for Friday to Sunday), will most likely not be seen in time.

We can’t always guarantee a guru, but booking early increases the chance. If we can’t provide one, the guru fee will be refunded.

HOW LONG DOES MY BOOKING LAST?
It lasts for 3 hours.
We will not give your table away if you arrive late, so no matter when you get to us you will have the table for the remainder of your booked slot. However, if you show up after the end time, the table is most likely taken by other guests.

BOOKING FOR LESS THAN 3 HOURS
It is not possible to book for less than 3 hours, but how long you actually stay is of course up to you.

BOOKING FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS
Bookings last 3 hours. If the table isn’t reserved after, you’re welcome to stay longer. To guarantee more time, make additional bookings and add a note on each booking to make clear that they’re connected, so you stay at the same table. When you write a note to the bartenders, please cite the name the original booking is made under, not the booking reference.

Extra bookings also include extra drink vouchers.

SPECIFIC SEATS
You can request to be seated at a specific place in the café, but please be aware that this is always subject to availability. Just write a comment to the bartenders when you book.

You will always be seated as close to each other as possible if more than one table is needed.

OUTDOOR SEATS
Outdoor seating is only available on request (please note it in the comments for the bartenders) and subject to availability.

If you request outdoor seating and the weather changes, we cannot guarantee indoor seating will be available.

MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT
To get the membership discount you need to have an active membership to get the discount. So buy the membership https://bastardcafe.dk/product/bastard-cafe-membership-gift-card/ BEFORE you make the reservation, by making two separate orders. And you must be logged in with an active membership to get the discount.
Notice that the membership is only shown when you are logged in and after you have added the booking to the cart.

ADDING MORE PEOPLE
If you want to add 1 or more people to your booking (to a total of maximum 30 people without confirming it with us first), then make an extra reservation here: https://bastardcafe.dk/reservation/. Remember to write in the comments that the extra booking belongs to your other booking. Write: ‘Belongs to “booker’s name”‘s booking.’
This has to be done before 23.00 the day before and can only be done if there are available seats.

In case you find out on the day of the booking after the deadline that you want to add people, you can call the bartenders at +45 42 74 66 42 (press 2, 3, or 4) and ask them if there are extra seats at your table (most tables have an even number of seats). When you arrive, pay for the extra person(s).
If no extra seats are available this last-minute booking cannot be done.

CANCELLATION
All bookings are binding. In case of cancelation, a reservation has to be canceled by forwarding the confirmation mail to [email protected] no later than 15.00 THE LAST WORKING OFFICE DAY before the booking, or else the booking fee is forfeit.
Be aware of weekends and bank holidays. These are not working office days.
So bookings for Sundays and Mondays the deadline is often Friday (TWO or THREE days before) at 15.00, but bank holidays can change that to earlier.

However if you made the booking with your profile you can cancel it up to 11 hours before on the web page: https://bastardcafe.dk/my-account/ (click “See my bookings”), even for weekends and bank holidays.

Bookings made after the cancellation deadline CANNOT be cancelled, altered nor refunded. You can of course choose not to show up, but the booking fee is still forfeit, if the booking is not cancelled correctly before the deadline.

REMOVING PEOPLE FROM THE BOOKING
If you want to change remove people from the reservation, then forward the confirmation mail to [email protected] no later than 15.00 THE LAST WORKING OFFICE DAY before the booking, otherwise we will not see it in time.

CHANGE OF TIME OR DATE
If you want to change the time or date, then forward the confirmation mail to [email protected] no later than 15.00 THE LAST WORKING OFFICE DAY before the booking, otherwise we will not see it in time. If the new date is on an earlier date, then the deadline is based for that date. I.E. if moving from Tuesday to Monday, the deadline would be Friday.
Notice that this can only be done if if there are available seats the new date and/or time.

MOVING THE BOOKING FROM ONE LOCATION TO ANOTHER
It is not possible to move a booking from one location to another. But you can cancel the old booking (following the cancellation terms) and book again the new place, if there are seats available.

BOOK A SPECIFIC GAME
It is not possible to reserve a specific game for your reservation.

BOOKING AFTER 20.00
The latest a booking can start is 20.00 and the latest it can end is 23.00. However if you know you cannot make it at 20.00 you can write in the comments to the bartenders when you arrive. You still have to pay for the whole booking (20.00-23.00). You can of course stay after 23.00 until we close if you want.

RUNNING LATE
You have the table for the entire time of the booking, so you don’t need to call us if you are late.

DO WE HAVE YOUR BOOKING?
If you want to check (outside office hours) that we have your reservation you can call the bartenders at +45 42 74 66 42 (press 2).
The bartenders CANNOT make new reservations or alter existing reservations.

You can also write and ask us on [email protected] if we have your booking.

RECEIPT
The confirmation mail you’ll receive when you make a booking contains all necessary information to be a valid receipt. It sometimes ends up in the spam folder.
Some larger companies’ firewalls even block mails from us completely so you can’t receive mail from us on your company mail. If you need the receipt then send us your private email on [email protected] and we’ll send the receipt.

PACKAGES & DISCOUNTS
We do not offer special packages or deals on bookings. All food and beverages must be ordered and paid for in the bar.

OWN FOOD/CAKE
You can bring your own food/cake if you remember to clean up after yourself.

OWN BEVERAGES
Own beverages are not allowed (except still water). All beverages have to be bought in the bar.

YOUR FIRSTBORN
No, you don’t owe your firstborn to Bastard Café when booking a table. You’ll know later why this is written here 😉
