In June 2023, for the 5th time, Bastard Tours sets sails over the North Sea and will visit UK’s biggest board game fair UK Games Expo 2023 in Birmingham.

This is the 17th UKGE (if we count correctly) and it has grown with the speed of a torpedo over the last years.

UKGE has 49.000 m2 of trade halls, a board game library, an open gaming area and a ton of other stuff to entertain you to the end of the next Armageddon.

Bastard Tours is planning a tour from Thursday the 1st June to Monday the 5th June 2023. We provide the frame by organizing group events during the trip and suggesting flights and hotel.

You book the hotel, flights and buy a ticket to the fair.

So pack your pony with big bags with room for anything because you are going on a new adventure bigger than eating moules-frites.

How to buy a ticket for the Bastard Tours

Thursday evening we will explore the pubs of Birmingham and have a taste of what they can offer. Bring a small game or two in your pocket (you pay for your own drinks). We might grab a snack on the way. We’ll meet up in the hotel lobby at 17.30.

Bastard Dinner

Join the Bastards for dinner.
Saturday evening we will go for a group dinner somewhere in Birmingham. Afterwards we’ll go to a surprise bar. We have previous been at gin parlour and at cocktail bar.
Bring a small game or two in your pocket (you pay for your own food and drinks).
We’ll meet up in the hotel lobby 19.30.

Bastard Café invites you to UK GAMES EXPO’23 – UK’s biggest trade fair for board games.

The price for the tour is 100 DKK for members (250 DKK for non-members).

We provide the frame by organizing group events during the trip and suggesting flights and hotel.

IMPORTANT -> You have to book the hotel, flight and buy a ticket to the fair yourself. This event ticket is just pay for the organization of the trip.

The sign-up closes the 2nd of May 2023.

FAQ

What about transport?
As people come from everywhere in the country, we have decided not to organize a shared transport to UK EXPO.
It’s possible to coordinate and get input on cheap travel via our Facebook event. If you find cheap flights, please share them.

We have however chosen a flight and named it the official Bastard Flight. You can choose that if you want to fly with others from Copenhagen to Birmingham and back again.

The Bastard Tour to Birmingham is not a carefully planned scouting trip where we all go hand in hand together. Bastard Café is (apart from being a place where you can play games), also a loosely connected community of people with the same passion for board games – we might create the framework, but you create the experiences. This tour is similarly organized. This means that you can select what you wish to participate in, and nobody expects that you must participate in all common meals etc. Choose what you like and go with the flow.

The UK GAME EXPO itself opens on Friday the 2nd June 2023 and closes on Sunday the 4th June 2023. We arrive a day before in Birmingham to chill with some games and be ready and rested for the next day.

“The Bastard Dinner”:
Saturday evening you have the opportunity to participate in our large Bastard Dinner which will take place at a yet unknown place in Birmingham. It will be epic. Select this if you want to participate, so we know about how many seats we have to reserve (food and drinks are paid for separately). We’ll go to a surprise bar afterwards.

“The Chill Sunday Dinner”:
Sunday evening you can join the Chill Sunday Dinner at The Old Joint Stock for a good traditional English pie (or something else).

“The Bastard Telegram News Service” (included in the ticket):
Sign up for updates with news, events, good “finds” at the fair and other info we find relevant. We communicate during the trip by using the Telegram app and making a group chat.

All prices incl. Danish VAT and any possible profit from the tour go to buy shitloads of new games for the Bastard Café collection.

What about Corona?
We don’t how the Corona situation will look like in June, but if the event is cancelled the Bastard Tours: UK Games Expo 2023 ticket will be refunded.
