Ahoy there! Escape it all this spring and come join us from Friday 20th March – Sunday 22nd March for a weekend of fun, gaming and coziness all in an old sea fortress off the coast of Copenhagen. In collaboration with Ungdomsøen we are running our first ever gaming weekend and you can be sure we are going to make it one to remember. Like for starters: IT’S ON AN ISLAND 🙂
Alongside all the games there will be geeky quizzes to take part in, movies and popcorn to watch in our chillout area, you can try your hand at some sea fishing, morning swimming if you´re feeling brave, toasting marshmallows on bonfires, guided tours of the historic island and much more.
The island itself is used by the scouts throughout the year and as such self reliance and teamwork runs through the core of everything that happens there. As such we expect everyone to take some responsibility for the well-being of themselves and others whilst on the island. This means bringing your own bedding (sleeping is inside in warm beds don’t worry) , picking up litter if you see it and tidying up after your meals, it’s these elements of do it yourself that will create a cozy atmosphere.
So if the idea of gaming away a weekend inside with like minded people, or sitting around a bonfire cooking your own pancakes in the evening, staring up at the night sky over Copenhagen or starting the day with a swim in the chilly ocean sounds appealing, then this is the board game weekend for you.

What about safety?
When you first arrive on the island you will be given a safety briefing. If there is an emergency Copenhagen’s police, ambulance and fire service are familiar with the island and have run drills there. Whilst there is no phone signal inside of the island, we will give you a ‘security number’ to give to family/friends that they can call if there is an emergency at home. There is mobile signal when you are outside. Whilst on the Island you will be made aware of who to speak to incase of a problem.
Does the island have facilities for wheelchair users?
At present the island has 2 rooms for 2 people each that are wheelchair friendly. Please make us aware if you require these rooms or need any assistance.
What will we play when we are there?
Bastard Café will try to bring as much of a selection of games as we are able to, but if you have a particular favourite or a game you have always wanted to play on an island we will be putting a poll in the facebook event closer to the time to see what we should bring. If you have a favourite from home, you are of course welcome to bring that along with you.
What other activities will you have?
Aside from all our awesome board game related activities, we will be having bonfires, doing some fishing, sea swimming if your brave, guided island tours, quizzes, movies and more to be announced over the coming months.
